
A resident of Nkaimurunya Ward receives donation after being displaced by floods caused by the ongoing rains.
Turkey Government and The National government in conjunction with Kajiado County Government and The Red Cross offered food stuffs to the affected residents of Nkaimurunya ward kajiado North. Over 520 victims benefited from it, these included 48 bales of unga,18 kilograms of green grams,8 litres of cooking oil and 5 kgs of salt. Kajiado county government promised to put up proper drainage system to prevents more floods in kware slums in Nkaimurunya ward after floods left many people homeless.
H.E the Deputy Governor Paul Ntiati, Area M.P Joseph Manje, MCA Mwathi Pere, TIKA Mehmet Mete ANNC Program coordinator and Red Cross led by the chairman Solomon Tawuo were all present in the event. Speaking after donating food stuffs to more than 520 people who were affected by floods, The Deputy Governor Paul Ntiati said the county government we call engineers immediately to identify areas that need proper drainage system. “We will send engineers to identify areas that need to be upgrade, we do not want such disasters to happen in future days.” Ntiati said.
He also lauded the support from different well-wishers saying they went a long way to reduce the amount of money the government would have spent to help the victims.
Area M.P Joseph Manje applauded the support from Turkish, saying they have shown true friendship by offering support to the victim and country at large. He added that “a friend in need is a friend indeed.” Urging the residents to move away from sloppy areas to avoid disaster in the rainy seasons. Assuring the residents that the National Government has allocated some amount of money to construct Gataka road to easy traffic jam.
Area residents called on the county government to look for a permanent solution to avoid such occurrence in future.
