Commissioning of the Isinet Borehole Solarization Project 🌍💧
Today, His Excellency the Governor of Kajiado County H.E. Joseph Ole Lenku, EGH, together with the County Executive Committee Member for Water Services,Mr. Michael Semera and Chief Officer Environment,Mr. James Ngugi officially commissioned the Solarization of Isinet Borehole and Pipeline Extension Project. This transformative initiative, funded under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action Program, Kenya (FLLoCA) Program, marks a major milestone in enhancing water accessibility, sustainability, and infrastructure security for the Isinet community.
The Isinet Borehole, initially drilled by the County Government of Kajiado, Department of Water Services has been a vital source of water for the residents. However, the high cost of electricity for pumping water posed a significant challenge. Through the FLLoCA program, the borehole has now been solarized with the installation of solar panels, ensuring a cost-effective, reliable, and environmentally friendly water supply system.
Additionally, the project included:
✅ Extension of water pipelines to neighboring communities, improving water access.
✅ Fencing of the borehole site to enhance security and safeguard the infrastructure.
The borehole now serves over 2,000 people, including residents of Isinet Town, two schools, and Isinet Dispensary, significantly improving their access to clean and affordable water.
The County Government of Kajiado remains committed to sustainable water solutions that support climate resilience and community well-being. This project is a testament to our dedication to providing clean water, promoting renewable energy solutions, and protecting essential infrastructure for a greener and more sustainable future.
