COUNTY LAUNCHES HEALTH STRATEGIC AND INVESTMENT PLAN

Kajiado County Government through the ministry of health today has launched a county strategic and investment plan identified as Kajiado county Health Sector Strategic & Investment Plan (KHSSIP). The plan is developed by the county government to help accelerate the attainment of universal health coverage for the years 2014-2018.
Spearheading the function, the County Deputy Governor Mr Pual Ntiati called upon the stakeholders and the residents to embrace the plan by the health ministry saying that it shows how the county government is devoted to proper health of the residents. “This plan shows how much the county government is devoted towards proper welfare of the people of kajiado county.” Said mr Ntati. He added that the government is aware about the challenges in the ministry and has allocated a third of its budget allocation to the ministry. The plan is the first strategic and investment plan to be launched in the county.
According to the health minister for the county, Mrs. Gladys Marima the strategic plan is one of the mile stones in the ministry which will help the government to deliver its services to the people with ease and efficiency. “This strategic plan will be of great impacts to the service delivery by the government.” Said Mrs Marima. She also thanked all the partners in the health sector who contributed to the development of the plan. She said that the plan will see the government directing its activities to attaining the health universal coverage for the coming three years.
With a huge amount of money allocated to ministry of health by through the county assembly, a number of MCA’s from the area want the ministry to cease the opportunity and deliver quality health services to the residents. According to the Matapato North MCA, Salaon ole Seki the ministry should use the 1.6 billion shillings which were allocated by the county government to fund the development of health facilities in the county. “We want the ministry to use the 1.6 billion shillings to funds improvement of health facilities including the supply of medicines to our hospitals.” Said mr Seki who is also the chairman for the county committee on health services. He however challenged the government to consider employing and sending competent doctors to the rural medical centres for the benefit of the common mwananchi.
