Kajiado county government will partner with UMEA from Sweden to equip the new library that is currently under construction in Kajiado town.
The library which is one of the flagship project in Kajiado central, upon completion it will contain a ground floor that will accommodate 320 people, first floor will contain 160 people, second floor 120 people and will also have break out terrace.

Speaking during a courtesy call to the office of the governor, culture administration UMEA and project manager stronger together Leif Mortenson said they aim to establish an experienced exchange program for all library users. “Our aim is to promote reading and access to literature, promote knowledge and creativity in information supply. We are partnering with Kajiado county government to create a reading culture for everybody.’’
Kajiado governor Dr. David Nkedianye noted that the library will improve information flow in the county.” we want to thank UMEA from Sweden for collaborating with us to improve technology and information flow in our county. Upon completion, this library will improve the literacy level. It’s not always about books but the impact it will make in our community.”
He added that more libraries will be built across the county.
” We plan to build more libraries in Loitotok, Ngong, Magadi and other major towns within the county. We want to improve education, Technology and information in Kajiado. ‘’
Dr. Tirong Tanui from Kenya Library Association said Kajiado county is among the first counties to build libraries.” I want to thank the county government for building such libraries. They make a big impact to people’s lives. A lot of jobs will also be created. There is a good cooperation between us and Kajiado and we want to help this county to be the best.”
CECM for ICT, Gender, and Social Service Hon Parsitau the C.O John Njoroge were present among other officials from ICT and social services department.
The library will be completed by 2018.
