MICHEZO MASHINANI TO KICKOFF IN KAJIADO COUNTY

MICHEZO MASHINANI TO KICKOFF IN KAJIADO COUNTY.

The first edition of Michezo Mashinani tournament has kick off all over the county according to the county sports officer Mr. Shadrack Maya. The event will kick start at the ward level in all five sub counties and will involve both football and volleyball.

Mr. Shadrack Maya said this is an opportunity for youths to showcase their talent because many of them lack the exhibition platform as majority come from the county rural areas.

“We want to give the talented youths of the most remote areas and clubs an opportunity to enjoy the game. The county government will support the whole event and there will be scouts in all wards who will be identifying best talents of which later will come up with an 18 man team which will represent their respective sub counties in the Governor’s cup scheduled for next month.” Said Maya.

The county sports officer also noted that the money will be distributed equally to all wards.

“Each ward will get ksh.200, 000 for the event without regards of the size or number of teams participating to create fairness and to reach to the local community and that is why we called it Michezo Mashinani. Our main target is to get the best talent in the faraway rural areas, support these talents and later represent us in the inter counties games which will be held in Kwale county at a later date.” said Maya

He added that scouts who will be identifying talents will be from football Kenya federation (FKF) and the county ministry of education, sports and social services which will also supervise the exercise in all five sub counties.

“We will bring scouts from FKF office and other neighbouring counties because we want fairness during selection process.” Said Maya.

H.E The Governor Dr David Nkedianye being shown the stadium model where he later broke ground for the modern stadium in Ngong town

Kajiado will soon have the first modern and state stadium in Ngong after the county government led by

the governor, Dr.David Nkedienye officially attended its ground breaking in Ngong.

The stadium which will cost over 200 million will be constructed by York investment (E.A) limited and

will facilitate training for many county sportsmen and women with amazing sporting talents in Kajiado

County.

Speaking during the ground breaking at the stadium the governor said the project will benefit the sports

men and the county in general.

“This is a flagship project and will help our sport men and women perfect their talents in rugby,

football, athletics, volleyball, swimming pools and many others fields and this will improve our

performance as a county in sports. This will also benefit the county government because many athletics

will come to train here with many events will be held around Ngong.” Said the governor.

The governor also warned those grabbing public land saying he will not accept that.

“Some people are grabbing lands and had even put bicons in the stadium, forget that because my

government will not allow people to take public land because where will our children play.” said

Nkedienye.

The Governor also ordered the contractor to use the local residents during the construction.

“We want our local people to benefit from this project and we want them to be used in the construction

because they are capable, we don’t want people from other areas to come here while we have the

required labour.” Noted the governor

Kajiado County athletic coach Joel Sankale says this is good news for many athletics.

“This is really good news for our athletics, many of them lack the required training and with this project

their performance will intensify. They will also get the exposure from other sport men outside counties

and this will raise our standards.” Said Sankale.

Kikanae Masharen one of the athletics training in Ngong said the stadium is strategically good for

training.

“The stadium has been built at the right place because the weather here is good for training because it

varies  and many top athletics train here because it’s also near to the capital Nairobi. “Said Kikanae.

David Ochieng a footballer in Ngong also added that the sports will also be boosted by the stadium.

“We will also get a chance to play with the top teams in the league and in future we will be able to host

CECAFA tournament.”

TheGovernor had earlier launch the construction of the parking bay in Ngong.
