ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The county government of Kajiado led by first lady H.E Edna Lenku  has launched an E-App for solid waste collection, papers,batteries and Electronics for Taka Taka Ni Mali at St.Monica Catholic Church,Kitengela .

She was accompanied by Dr. James Sankale -Chief Officer Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change,James Larmoi -Deputy Director Taka Ni Mali and other county officials.

This will run an environmentally friendly operation which will change the livelihoods and improve the environment.

 

Our transformation to change our waste to wealth is bearing fruits through the Hub and other counties are bench-marking with us.

We urge everyone to participate and partner with us to make our environment clean.

 

Grateful to our  partners led by Catholic Church, UNDP,Takataka Solutions and  Wee Center for better,safe  and suitable  environment.

TIME TO GET ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY

As a continuous process of keeping the environment clean, the County is keen in making its urban centres business friendly by being free of garbage.

The mountain that was at the Ngong dumpsite is now gone to pave way for the public recreation park

Stakeholders have been re-directed from the Ngong Dumpsite to an alternative site. The county government has also acquired a ultra-modern garbage collection truck specifically for our major urban centres.

Let’s all strive to keeping Kajiado Clean. It begins with you and me.

ENVIRONMENT CONSERVATION

H.E the Governor welcomed the First Lady of Kenya H.E Margret Kenyatta to a tree planting exercise at Kibiko Forest organized by the Ministry Of Defense.

Our County is commitment towards the increment of forest cover and supporting the conservation efforts of the Ministry of Environment.

Over a month ago H.E the Governor launched the School tree growing exercise duped “Adopt A Tree” through the County department of Environment to contribute towards the achievement of a 10% Forest Cover in Kajiado County and in keeping with our responsibilities under the Constitution.

Following an initiative by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, to adopt forests for restoration, KDF has adopted Kibiko forest, Ngong Hills, Thogoto, Oloolua, and Mareba wetlands. The County Government takes this opportunity to escalate its re- afforestation program.

This will entail including the communities around these forests to provide them with economic benefits while at the same time ensuring that millions of trees will fight the effects of climate change.

SAND BAN LIFTED

Following fruitful discussions with sand harvesting and stakeholders we have today lifted the ban on sand harvesting in Kajiado County.
This is after we came to an understanding on strict guidelines on their operations that will be subject to review in the next 3 months.
This follows weeks of meetings discussing how best we can streamline the industry.
We have agreed that;
1. No trucks will be allowed to overload.
2. All loaders should display authentic stickers on their trucks.
3. There will be no dumping of sand along the roads.
4. All sand loaders should acquire NHIF Cards and be members of registered SACCOs.
The County Government of Kajiado will work hand in hand with the National Government through the offices of the County Commissioner to ensure that all these regulations are adhered to for the benefit of the sand harvesters and the surrounding communities.

NATURAL RESOURCE TASK FORCE

Kajiado County Secretary Francis Ole Sakuda has launched a Natural Resources Task Force.
Speaking during the launch at County headquaters, Mr. Sakuda briefed the team on the huge task ahead which includes handling all natural resources in the county, dealing with deforestation, charcoal burning, sand harvesting, mining, advising the County Government on revenue collection among others.
The task force team is as follows:-
1. Ex Councilor Ole Osoi – Chairman

3. James Sankale             – Chief Officer Environment
4. Morris Kaaka                – Chief Officer Finance

CLEANUP EXERCISE IN KITENGELA

H.E the governor launched a massive cleanup exercise at Kitengela together with the National Youth Service. NYS provided an excavator, several tippers and 200 youth for the program.

This is aimed at making Kitengela and its environs free of the choking polythene garbage. The governor ensured the residents that there will be timely collection of garbage and that we are ready to make our estates cleaner.

H.E the governor was accompanied by CECM for ICT Richard Parsitau,Area MCA Paul Matuya,Director General of National Youth Service Dr Richard Ndumbai and Nominated MCA Onesmas Ngokoyo.

CLEAN-UP EXERCISE

Sicily Kariuki, Hon Judi Wakhungu,Joseph Manje -MP Kajiado North, Hon George Sunkuyia-MP Kajiado West and ,Kajiado Senator Phillip Mpayeei together with local residents,kicked off started the sensitization campaign against plastic bags garbage in Ongata Rongai.

The NYS together with the locals while undertaking the youth Empowerment Programme will commerce on a total eradication of polythene bags.

Let’s keep our county clean and maintain it at a better place than we found it.

DUBBED “SAVE A TREE”

Miss Tourism Kajiado County Sation Parmuat  planting a tree at Ilmarba primary school

Miss Tourism Kajiado County Sation Parmuat planting a tree at Ilmarba primary school  launching  her project dubbed ” save a tree”.

Miss Tourism Kajiado County Sation Parmuat commenced a project that target to plant 10,000 trees across the county. The project that was officially launched at Ilmarba primary school in Kajiado Central by the initiator Sation, many applauded it as a way of restoring back the beauty of the land. She planted 50 pieces before addressing the imperative of the tree to the eagerly awaiting team. Speaking during the occasion she urged teachers and pupils to upkeep trees from destruction. Deforestation rate is very high in Kajiado County according to the Miss Tourism, this made her to come up with the notion of Dubbed ‘’Save a tree’’. Identifying the helped from different partners as a boosted to her project, Ministry of Environment supporting with 1000 trees, East Africa Portland has promised 3000 pieces and she is looking forward to getting more partnership to reach the set target. She also challenged pupils to work hard in school to have a better future and avoid dropouts in school.

Sempeta the head teacher lauded the project and promised to safeguard the trees from destruction. He added that the trees will block wind that always causes damage to the classrooms and provide shade to the pupils and the  entire school.

Later during the day Sation toured Moi Girls Isinya where she planted 100 pieces before she addressed the crowd. In her talks at Moi girls secondary she registered her confidence with the school saying that they practice good environmental practices which touched her. She added the task of environmental protection is a universal responsibility of all of us. We will be making an important gesture to the world in demonstrating our global concern and at the same time making our own little but significant contribution to the cause.” Sation Said.

According to Millicent Kaboga a teacher at moi girls who was happy to have Miss Tourism running the project in their school since she was a former student. Recognizing the effort of the school not only producing academically good students but also in character. She added that  the projects conducted in the school will go along way into changing and transforming not only the school but the students too. According to Kaboga the school takes very seriously planting of trees since the school begun and they promised to own the project passionately so that at the end of it all the trees will not only helped the environment of the school but also changed the environment of isinya.
