The National Government Treasury in conjunction with county government offered training to special groups in Kajiado County. The training held at county headquarters was an eye opener to many individuals including staff members, the presidential directive on the Women, the youth and people with disabilities access to 30% of government procurement opportunities is being fulfilled within the context of a program called AGPO (Access to Government Procurement Opportunities).Which was officially launched by His Excellency the President, Uhuru Kenyatta, on October 16, 2013 in Nairobi County.

The main aim of the AGPO Program is to facilitate the enterprise owned by women, youth and persons with disability to be able to participate in government procurement. This will be made possible through the implementation of the presidential directive. It is affirmative action program aimed at empowering women, youth and persons with disability by giving them more opportunities to do business with Government.

Ester Shena Gender  manager said it has come out clearly after the training that many people did not know more about the procurement, to acquire all the documents, mentioning that procurement people are doing it in the five sub-counties outlining that the groups present in the meeting are from the five sub counties. Applauding the training saying it has sensitized many even to mobilize more people to join and acquire tenders. Esther articulating to the groups to voice to their teams to come in large number to register and get certificates.

David Tuke a person with disability lauded the training saying it was a good one since it has educated him on his right and how to apply for tender. “The meeting was good one because it has educate me on my right I known how to go on application of tender and where to get the information. ”Tuke said

Milanoi Naishorua a resident from Namanga express her joy saying the training has enlighten them even on applying tenders. According to Malanoi the training has broaden her minds in terms of business.
