The Late Hon Peter Sankale Kurrinyo, MCA Mosiro Ward was yesterday laid to rest in peace following his death. Kurrinyo was all well until the last official engagement, which was a cultural function held in his ward on Monday 11th April 2016. He attended this in the company of other County government leaders. He developed ill health on Tuesday the 12th April 2016 where he sought medical attention in Narok. He passed on while undergoing treatment on Sunday 17th April 2016.

Cord Principal Hon.Raila Odinga accompanied Kajiado county boss Hon. David Nkedianye, his deputy Hon .Paul Ntiati, Senators from both counties Kajiado and Narok counties, area M.P, County Assemblies from both counties, and other government officials attended the burial ceremony. Speaking during the event the Governor warn sharply on lands selling that it will leave many homeless. The county boss added that land fight has begun long ago and all he can do for now is to proceed ahead to stop the syndicate of land selling. The governor also urged all the leaders to forget political differences and join hands to help the community to better their life’s standard. Voiced to all leaders to join hands and help Mosiro residents because most of them are squatters, their lands have been sold. “let’s come together and avoid political difference to help mosiro people because most of them are squatters their land have been sold.” Nkedianye said Promising them to go back soon to have a talk with the family of the late Peter Sankale on how to help them. “I will come back soon to have a talk with the family of the late Peter to known how to help them.” He also encouraged the wife of the later to trust God.

The county boss also promise them, the county will ensure that all the projects will be followed to implementation and Mosiro people will be considered. On wildlife issues the governor said it is another big issue that has not been properly dealt with. Adding that human wildlife conflicts has been escalated over the years and we need to give it a proper address.

KAJIADO REFERAL HOSPITAL RECEIVES EQUIPEMENTS WORTHS 2.8MILLION

Kajiado referral hospital benefited after they received equipment worth 2.8 million,

CECM for health Gladys Marima lauded the support from Sightsaver with Amref  to

ensure the community are well taken care off in conjunction with the county

government.

Speaking during the handover of the equipment the Minister said the given

equipment by sightsaver through Amref will help the team to do eye examination this

include eye glasses for people who have a problem with sighting. She added that the

clinic has been supported by Sightsaver through Amref, they went a long way to

reduce the amount of money the government would have put in. The CECM lauded

the training offered by Amref to the staff as one of the ways to cut cost for the

government.  “We have been supported by the sightsaver through Amref to the

government, they went along way to reduce the amount we would have put in as a

government.” Marima said.

 

Moris Odur the project Manager with sightsaver lauded the step of offering the

equipment as one of their vision being implement by reaching the community. Amref

in collaboration with the county government has reached many people in the

community for treatment since it was received in kajiado .Frances Dikir the project

manager for trachoma in Amref Organization said sightsaver has been so supportive

in addressing issues of eye care in the county and beyond, adding that it is a life

change that will impact positively not only to the organization but also to the partners

but really to the ultimate community.

“We have been working closely with sightsaver as they coordinate projects we

implement through the ministry of health to reach the needy communities.” Said Dikir

Dikir urged kajiado residents not to go for further medication because they have

enough equipments and trained doctors to help them in treatment.

H.E Governor Dr.David Nkedianye joined Ilanyuak Le Mashuru in Kikurro town Mashuru district

Kajiado East, to celebrate a thanksgiving ceremony. Nkedianye accompanied byhis Protocol officer

John Loisa, C.O for Trade Gideon Ketente and other county officials witnessed the commendable

ceremony held by ILANYUAK. It was last month that the Governor opened an official building built by

the organization that led them to hold the thanksgiving as a sign of appreciating a noble work done.

The Building was built by ILNYUAK LE MASHUURU SAND HAVERSTER COOPERATIVE

SOCIETY. This is an informal youth group, into a million institution. Set up by young men of Imaroro

ward who engage in scooping and loading of sand to Lorries and registered as cooperative in the

main objective was to control sand in river beds, banks and water catchments areas and arrange

levy payments by the transporters which will promote members financials welfare, unity and among

others conserve environment in the affected areas and   since inception the society had been

growing steady but this does not mean all has been well ILANYUAK LE MASHUURU SAND

HARVESTER COOPERATIVE SOCIETY is today a million shilling institution  with 460 members and

a net asset base of about Ksh.45 million, is feted amongst the leading biggest sand harvesters

societies in membership and capital base cooperative in kajiado county.

Speaking during the occasion the Governor challenged the crowd to embrace unity and join hands to

do a lot of good work, mentioning that as one of good example and how successful it can be.

Nkedianye urged them not choose any job. “We have been shown that young people can join hands

and do a lot of good work, this is one example of how successful we can be. We celebrate them and

encourage them to move forward, as a county government we will work closely with them to ensure

they have attained their dreams. We encourage them not to choose any job.’’ Nkedianye said

the county boss assured them of great support from his government to reinforce the society and

looking forward to a future where they will diversify their income and where they can have other

sources from which they can get profit apart from sand harvesting. The Governor urged them to

attend trainings offered by his government to the young people to build the capacity of their

cooperatives and make sure they become stronger and save more

Nkedianye urged sand harvesters not to overload the Lorries since the overloaded Lorries are

destroying a lot of bridges and roads. C.O Ketente lauded the work done and encourage youth to

embrace in that way of cooperation to better their lives standard. He also added that is the right

direction to go meanwhile it will help to avoid drugs abuse and other misbehaviors ways. Ketente

embolden them to plant trees since it is a virtue that will enable them in conservation of trees.

COMMUNICATIONS REGULATOR TAKES ITS CONSUMER FORUM TO KAJIADO COUNTY

 14th April, 2016… CA In its quest to consolidate service providers’ intervention in closing the ICT gap, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), has pitched camp in Kajiado County to host the forum aimed at offering consumer education in the county.  Through the Forum, the Authority aimed at enlightening ICT consumers of their rights and responsibilities.

 

On its seventh edition of Kikao Kikuu- County ICT forum, Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) in partnership with the County Government of Kajiado held a one-day forum themed, ‘Connectivity Today and Beyond’. The forum provided a platform for the consumers to have open discourse with CA, government officials and various ICT service providers.

 

In a recent ICT Access Gaps Study released by CA,  some areas in Kajiado County such as Mosiro, Magadi and Oloodokilan still have limited and no access to basic ICT services. In his address at the forum, Hon. Dr. David Ole Ndekianye said that his government welcomes the partnership with CA to ensure that Kajiado County gets access and connectivity to ICT services. “As the County Government, we are delighted to be working together with the Communications Authority of Kenya to ensure that all citizens gain access to ICT services and that technology is adequately deployed in order to ensure efficiency in our service delivery,” he said.

 

The County Ministry of ICT, Gender and Culture aims to deploy technology to the lowest levels so as to allow access to information that will improve quality of life in Kajiado County. It also purposes to establish mechanisms of hosting ICT trainings to empower the community with skills and technical know-how.

 

Tourism is the county’s strong suit with the presence of Amboseli national park that attracts both local and international tourists.  Proximity to Tanzania also positions the County strategically for international trade. Other budding sectors in Kajiado include agriculture, manufacturing and mining.

 

Francis Wangusi, Director General, Communications Authority of Kenya, said that CA is focused on providing an effective platform for dialogue between consumers and service providers. “As a regulator, being guided by the principle of public participation, we aim to ensure that consumers access quality ICT services,” he said.

 

“It is in light of this and as part of our mandate that we have brought together the various industry players to address the prevailing ICT issues in Kajiado County. Our goal is to catalyze connectivity and access to ICT services to the residents of Kajiado County.” Wangusi remarked.

 

The Communications Authority of Kenya initiated ICT County Forums targeted at the 47 counties and dubbed “Kikao Kikuu”.  The forums’ main objective is to create a platform for dialogue between the Authority, County Governments, service providers, consumer organizations, academic institutions and consumers of ICT. The County Governments are also encouraged to leverage on this platforms to showcase their own initiatives in ICT.

KAJIADO COUNTY CELEBRATES THREE YEARS OF DEVOLUTION.

The Governor of Kajiado County Dr. David Nkedianye joined wananchi of Kajiado in celebrating three years in power at Nakeel grounds in Kajiado North.

Dr. Nkedianye accompanied by his deputy  Paul Ntiati, Senator Mositet, MCA Mwathi Pere,  and other county officials, inspected a guard of honors from the enforcement officers  and the Kenya scouts before being entertained with songs by different schools and choirs from all over the county in an event where citizens turned out in large numbers.

The Governor outlined several development projects done by his government since its formation. According to the governor on health services the county government invested in increasing access to services delivery through increasing number of dispensaries, purchased and equipped 6 new ambulances at a cost of more than Ksh 40million. 1 of which is able to offer highly specialize care during patient referral. The biggest beneficiaries are Ongata Rangai. Health projects which have been the construction of a mortuary, maternity wings. Major theatres, fencing works, estimated to be at Ksh. 40.9 million. Kajiado Referral hospital that is being upgraded at a cost of ksh 53.7 million and Loitokitok Sub County hospital that has ksh 25.8 million for upgrading and refurbishment of its mortuary. An overall of 71 health projects at an estimated cost of 504,202,362 as a total investment on construction and upgrading of health infrastructure in Kajiado.

In lands and physical planning the governor said kajiado is the first county in Kenya to register and issue 300 National land commission allotment letters in conjunction with the county land management board to plot owners of Olekasasi A. This is a great milestone considering the wrangles that has come to characterize our county with regardless to ownership of lands. With regard to Urban planning and development planning for Lasit and Ilbissil town and already complete. With regard to environment as a way to ensure continuity conservation preservation and suitable use of environment recourses and 2000 seedlings for planning are distributed per ward.

On roads and public works the Dr. Nkedianye said a lot of roads are been opened up and other tarmacked to meet the need of wananchi.

“We are expanding and improving existing roads networks in the urban and rural areas and we have tarmacked several roads to improve accessibility to needy places like government facilities and we have started constructing bus parking bays in Kitengela which is almost complete and Ngong which is in progress. We are doing this to ease the traffic jam in our towns.” Noted the governor.

In Education and sports, the governor said his administration is doing a lot of improvement to the sector

“We already have six polytechnic in Entasopia, Saikeri, Namelok, Isinya and meto. A total of 296 ECDE classrooms have been constructed across the county, 499 care teachers have been employed and hiring 31 instructors for polytechnic. In sport our ladies are awarded the women champions in inter counties champions held at kwale last year.” He added that in the previous year our men football team won a trophy in the men category when the competition was launched at Laikipia County. The disable people have not been left behind they have benefited from participating in sport, Paralympic sports for person with disability. We purchased devices such as wheel chairs, hearing aid.

The sector of water and irrigation has embarked on an ambitious plan of availability affordable water by sinking 18 boreholes, 30 pipelines equipping water projects among others activities.

COUNTY GOVERNMENT EMPLOYS 499 CARE TAKERS

The County Government through The Ministry of Education and The Public Service Board

has employed 499 new care takers staff who will be deployed across the county. The Occasion

was graced by the Governor accompanied by his Deputy Hon.Paul Ntiati, Education Minister

Hon.Nairowua, CO Sankale, MCAs and other county official’s.

The new education recruits will ease the burden in the education sector which had a lot of

complains from wananchi on the unavailability of the teachers when they take their kids to

school. Parents had been struggling in employing teacher and paying school fees for their

children.

Speaking when receiving the new employees, The Governor Dr. David Nkedianye, said the new

recruits will ease and improve the services offered to schools and better the improvement in

school. He mentioned the number of the employee as 66% are female and 35.5% are male.

“Today we are here to welcome and commission 499 new staff in the education sector, we have

been told that 66% are female while 35% male, which is very significant. Our education sector

have been going through difficult time due to lack of personnel.” Said Nkedianye

The county boss also urged teachers to work hard and continue reading with the aim of better

their lives. “You must work hard and aim higher to better yourself, do not stagnate in one place

this is a competitive world everybody is trying to get better.” said Nkedianye

He added that the county government is keen in improving education sector in the county among

others.

“In the education sector we have set 51 million annually. We want more ECDE teachers to better

education sector and as a county government we are committed to make sure that we have a

great foundation for our children. We will be watching this sector closely monitoring what you

are doing to ensure the children have got satisfied.  ” Added the governor

Dr. Nkedianye added that every ward is going to benefit from the new recruit adding that the

community need to receive them well.

The CECM education Hon.Jeremiah Nairowua promised to work closely with the Care takers to

ensure they have the support whenever in the field. The minister challenge teachers to work very

hard and meet their targets.

Teachers lauded the county government for the job given and requested for salaries increase.

DR.CLEOPA MAILU LAUNCHES NATIONAL POLIO VACINATION CAMPAIGN IN KAJIADO

CS Mailu joined kajiado residents in launching the National Polio Vaccination Campaign which will run in all the 47 counties, targeting 9 million children below 5 years. The CS accompanied by the Deputy Governor Hon. Paul Ntiati, Area MP Elijah Memusi, Women rep Mary Senator, Senator Kipchumba, MCAs, CEC for health Gladys Marima and other county officials.

Speaking during the occasion the CS said Polio cripples and is an extremely infectious disease which has cure, but a safe, tested and effective vaccine is available to prevent our children from contracting polio virus. To  eradicate Polio in Kenya, as part of the Polio Global Endgame strategy, the ministry in close collaboration with  stakeholders have enhanced surveillance for acute flaccid paralysis [AFP], leading to disruption of transmission of polio, with the last case reported in Kenya nearly three years ago.

To achieve this success, the country has conducted 18 successful polio vaccination campaigns, and has now introduced inactivated polio vaccine [IPV] in routine immunization. Further, the country has destroyed laboratory samples containing virus [serotype 2] in order to meet its global commitment. While recognizing the Effort and significant strides made in routine immunization in the country, we note that coverage for fully immunized child in the country has significantly improved from 56% [FY 2013/14] through 66% [FY 2014/2015] to the current 76%.

Further, the ministry is fully committed to provide quality health of the highest attainable standard for all Kenyans as enshrined in the Constitution. As part of this commitment, the ministry will continue to work with the county governments and all stakeholders to ensure that routine immunization is strengthened across the entire country in order to ensure children have access to and utilize lifesaving vaccines to lay a shiny foundation for their development.

Cleopa also acknowledge the partners including World Health Organization, UNICEF, Rotary International, UNHCR, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, Kenya Red Cross, CDC, LDS Charities and many others. He also acknowledge the able leadership provided by H.E. the Governor leading to improvement of the health indicators in the county and for hosting this national event.

County government also promised to sensitize on polio vacination in the county.

The Deputy Governor of Kajiado County Paul Ntiati joined residents at Noosikitok primary next to Mailtisa, Matapato South kajiado central. Ntiati accompanied with CECM in charge of  Education Hon.Jeremiah Nairowua and area MCA Hosea Toshi lauded the effort of the school in their performance.

The Deputy Governor articulated teachers, parents and different stakeholders to embrace unity to better education standard in the area. Urging parents to continue supporting teachers in school whenever they required their support. Ntiati said “as a county government we are ready to support you to ensure our children has obtain a better feature.”

The deputy governor used the platform to warn them sharply on land selling as a way to make them slaves and lead to poverty. “You must stop selling of lands because it will lead to poverty and slavery.” Paul said

Area MCA Hon.Hosea Toshi hailed the effort and urge the community to unite and avoid any political differences to help their children achieve their goals. He added teachers should aim higher to improved more. “Let’s unite together and avoid any political differences to better our community and teachers should aim on a higher mean score.” said Hosea

Education minister hon. Jeremiah Nairowua highlighted the ongoing projects of ECDE classes as a good step and urge parents to fetch their children to school for better future. He added, education is the key to success we should embraceon it.Hon.Jeremiah warn them on gender balance in education, since the ratio of girls is very low.

Parents lauded the Deputy Governor as one of the originators of the school, after building a classroom before he was elected. They asked county government to support where they can in order to improve more in learning. “We as parents we are happy for the work done and need the government to fully support where they can to improve education sector in the locality.”
